The security department of the state of Coahuila in northern Mexico issued an announcement on…
A gunman broke into the Bronx police station in New York City on the 9th and was arrested after shooting and wounding a police officer. About 12 hours ago, he pretended to ask directions in the same block, raided a police officer inside a patrol car, and shot and injured a policeman before escaping.
At 8 pm on the 8th, the man asked two police officers in the patrol car for directions, and then shot suddenly. The bullet nearly hit policeman Paul Strofino in the driver’s seat, bruising his chin and neck, and almost hurting his arteries. Strofolino and partner Brian Hanlon then managed to escape by car. They did not fire back.
Police said the suspect ran away on foot. Police subsequently released photos of the suspects and launched a city-wide search. Before 8 am the next day, the suspect appeared at the police station that organized the search and fired his gun at the front desk. There are several policemen standing there.
Police Chief Dermot Shea said that the gunman approached the area near the front desk and fired several police officers at close range.
A policeman shot back after being shot in the left upper arm without hitting the gunman. Fortunately, other officers at the police station subdued him to avoid more police casualties. “The coward put down (the weapon) as soon as he ran out of bullets,” said Shay.
The Associated Press reported that the injured policeman, Strofino, was discharged from hospital on the 9th and was applauded by a large number of colleagues. Police said all the wounded are expected to recover.
“This is an intent to kill two policemen … a deliberate murder,” said New York City Mayor and Democrat Bill De Blasio (Bai Sihao). “Attacking the police is tantamount to attacking us all.”
Police did not disclose the name of the shooter. According to Shay, the gunman was exhausted and had a car hijacking and fired at the police in 2002. He was jailed for attempted murder and released on parole in 2017.
New York State Governor and Democrat Andrew Cuomo said on social media “Twitter” on the 9th that he was “shocked” by successive police attacks. Republican President Donald Trump immediately took the opportunity to attack the Democrats, blaming two officials for “poor leadership”, “no rules” and “lack of support” that led to the police attack.
There have been frequent cases in the place where the two assaults occurred, and calm has gradually returned in recent years. There were five murders and 164 robberies there last year. The two figures were 44 and 1095 in 1990.
